The engine utilises an early type turbo without direct electronic control and has no intercooler fitted. The power gains at 129bhp are safe and reliable but in order to obtain more from this engine an intercooler would need to be fitted as to ensure safe exhaust gas temperatures. The intercooler off the 110bhp would be ideal but the inlet manifold and plumbing would also be required making it a substantial job.
